2006 Vic Harding Memorial Trophy

Well the 2005 Vic Harding Memorial will be remembered I guess for all the wrong reasons. The day the England football team and Wayne Rooney in particular had a day they would prefer to forget taking an early exit from the Football World Cup in Germany. With that match going into extra time, many fans stayed at home to watch the extra time and penalty shoot out, even though Len had decided to put back the start time to 7.30. Trouble is this was only decided an hour or so before the normal start time of 7pm, so many did not know, and without doubt this affected the attendance. For those who attended this was an excellent meeting, eventually won by Mildenhall’s Jason Lyons. Unfortunately Mildenhall skipper Jon Armstrong was injured where it was believed he had a couple of broken ribs. Teammate Daniel King lost a chain exiting the second bend and Jon ploughed into him. Because of the delayed start and a further delay while Jon had treatment on the track the Col Smiths old timers had to be cancelled, but of course took it all in there stride.

The match race between Len Silver and Michael Lee! Well Michael Lee made an instant impact once again, looking like he had never been of a bike. Len, well he looked a bit rusty!
